The Country Hurdle should be a fantastic race open a betting account with paddy power.
Nicky Henderson may have missed out on one bonus already this season but he is out for compensation through Dave’s Dream in the Vincent O’Brien County Hurdle at Cheltenham on Friday.
It is tradition for the winner of last Saturday’s Imperial Cup at Sandown to appear again a few days later at Cheltenham.
As a huge incentive, there is a £75,000 windfall from Paddy Power at stake should Dave’s Dream complete the double.
Henderson’s Seven Barrows stable had plenty to celebrate when Punjabi lifted the Champion Hurdle but they lost out on another £1million, with the gelding’s fall in the Christmas Hurdle blowing his chances of winning the WBX Triple Crown.
Dave’s Dream was mightily impressive over the weekend and Henderson appears upbeat.
“Dave’s Dream is very well and there are two reasons why we have decided to run,” he reported.
“Firstly he has gone up 18lb in the weights so it is not rocket science that a 5lb penalty is quite attractive.
“Secondly he is squealing and I really do mean squealing.
“He has actually put weight on – he is 4kg heavier than before Sandown.
“He has got to take his chance and he really is well – that is the main thing.”
With a shuffle in the running order, the County is now no longer the traditional ‘getting out’ race at the end of the meeting.
